Monday Class
For students entering 4-12 grades. We are so looking forward to the continued learning opportunities for our older students! Here are some of the things we going to be working on together.
*Older students will primarily be cast in older roles. However, we do look for the best opportunities for students to GROW, so there aren't any hard & fast rules about casting.

**We understand the pandemic has been financially devastating for many families.  We will not turn away a student who needs assistance with tuition.  Just contact our office & we will do whatever is in our power for your student(s) to participate.

**Our private teachers (voice, piano, guitar, flute, ukulele) are still teaching via Zoom.  Let us know if you need to be connected with them.

Of course, we are going to rehearse for performances, but we’ll also have fun group activities, contests and surprises all semester! Please note: all students must provide theatre shoes as appropriate for their characters following casting. These are either jazz or character shoes in BLACK. Most information will be provided after casting.

Casting "Sandy"-

We know there are several of our families who would love for the Family Pet to play the role of "Sandy". The dog used for the show needs to be: patient & comfortable around crowds, sandy-colored, up-to-date on all vaccinations, able to sit/stay and come when called. Owners must sign a waiver and the dog MUST HAVE full time supervision backstage at all times by a volunteer dedicated to "Sandy Duty", and onstage by a costumed student. "Sandy" is required to attend during the final rehearsals & dress rehearsals.

Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including “Tomorrow.”

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage that is run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the Orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations… and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt! She finds a new home and family in billionaire, Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

PLEASE NOTE:

Some health protocols may still be in place for our classes this fall, particularly for our youngest students. We will continue to follow the advice of science & health professionals and share more details about these protocols as we get closer to the start of classes in the fall.

Fall, 2021

At The Curtain Playhouse we have classes for students in Kindergarten through High School.  No audition is required to participate and all students are accepted regardless of skill level.  If you have questions about our class offerings please email us at info@thecurtainplayhouse.com

This fall,  The Curtain Playhouse is going to be doing a combined show. Occasionally, we've had shows to produce that work very well for two different age groups. This fall, there are wonderful roles for younger children and older ones. We do not believe that this will be a permanent change, but bringing our families together for one show will be so wonderful!

Grades K - 4: meet on Tuesdays, 4:30 - 6:00

and Grades 4 - 12: meet Mondays, 4:30 - 6:30

The overlap in age/grades is to aid families who may have siblings at different grade levels, and it offers an option to "move up" or "stay down" depending on specific needs and experience of the student. We are taking registrations on a first-come, first served basis. If your family needs to register for a day outside of the age ranges shown here, please contact our registrar at tammy@thecurtainplayhouse.com
