Important Pre-registration Information

There are just a few points of interest you will need to know prior to registering for classes/lessons.

We accept debit & credit cards for tuition payments and on-line ticket sales.  You will be asked on our registration page (next) how you would like to pay for your class(es) deposit(s).  Monthly payments are accepted for theatre tuition. Summer Camps are not eligible for monthly payments due to their shorter duration.

Class deposits & tuition payments at The Curtain Playhouse are NON-REFUNDABLE.  In extenuating circumstances, a credit for the tuition paid may be granted toward a future class.  Once we receive your payment, you are registered and will be guaranteed a place in the class.   If a family has not paid for the class by the class’ start date, the space in the class is forfeited and will be granted to the first student on our wait list.

For monthly payments:
Payments are the same each month, with no interest charges or fees, and are automatically charged the first of each month to your
credit/debit card on file. If you prefer to pay your account balance in full at any time, just contact our office.  Please note that in some calendar years, there may be a monthly payment due even if the class is not meeting that month.  This is to keep your monthly payments each month as regular as possible & as low as possible.

For Studio Lessons: Please see the Music Lessons tab for information on tuition.

If an account is more than 14 days past due, a $25.00 late fee will apply for each month overdue. We do refer accounts over 90 days past due for collections.

Prior to registering for any theatre class, please be sure you are knowledgeable about the content of material. There are scripts or books available at most public libraries for many of the shows we do, and our office is pleased to discuss any issues of content with you. It is YOUR responsibility to know what you are registering for.

Registering for a theatre class constitutes your desire to be a part of the production.  In occasional special circumstances, titles of shows/classes are subject to change.   PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER for any class you are not sure you want to be a part of.  In addition, only register for classes where you will be willing to accept any casting decisions.

Further Details:

Parents must be responsible for picking up students from class in a timely manner. Please recognize that our teaching staff has other obligations to attend or families to get home to. We expect to wait to accommodate student pick up for approximately 10 minutes after the end of class. After this time, we will assess a charge to your account of $1.00 for each minute you are late picking up. Of course, we understand that emergencies and situations such as lost keys, appointments running late, etc. can happen. We offer a one time grace from this policy. Any funds collected for late pick-up will go directly to the teaching staff who needed to attend the student in question. We will never leave a child, including teenagers, alone at our facilities without express PERSONAL permission by telephone conversation with a parent/guardian. If an emergency arises, contact the teacher for the class directly- contact information is given out the first day of class.

Each family is asked to participate in fundraisers each year.  Our tuition-based program does not cover the cost of our operations alone.  Funds are needed for facilities rentals, rights/royalties, costumes, props, sets, printing, accompaniment tracks, insurance... and on and on.  In order to keep tuition as affordable as possible for our families, we do ask for donations or advertising sales.  Information will be sent for fundraiser participation- these usually once in fall semester and once in the spring semester.

Attendance at all performances is by paid admission only. Complimentary tickets are not given to cast members or their families. Tickets for performances are pre-sold on-line and at the door the day of the show (if tickets remain).  Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis, and The Curtain Playhouse cannot guarantee ticket availability.  You will be notified for the on-sale date well in advance.

Students may be required to provide certain costume elements including, but not limited to:
footwear (shoes, socks, dance shoes), pants (black, khaki, etc), and hosiery.  You will receive information from the show’s costume mistress about this after class begins.

From time to time, we utilize photos taken of our students for brochures and advertising needs and on our website. Your class registration allows us such use without compensation or notification to our families. If you prefer your child’s photo not be used, please inform our office.

We are flexible for issues of attendance during our rehearsal process, and we appreciate as much notice as you can give to a planned absence. If your child is missing due to illness, we require 24 hours notice whenever possible. Dress/Tech rehearsal week (the week of the performances) and all performances have MANDATORY attendance. Generally, the closer we get to show times, the more important their attendance is.

The Curtain Playhouse offers a variety of activities outside of classes for our students who are interested in cultivating their theatre experiences. All additional “field trips”, educational trips, social outings, sportswear and additional items are options to our families and are not required.

The wearing of face coverings for health reasons is optional.

Participation Waiver:

Due to the inherent risks involved in the variety of activities in which students of The Curtain Playhouse will participate, I recognize and accept that participation in any activities offered by the organization have obvious and necessary risks. By agreeing to this waiver, I state that the child to be named on the registration form is in the proper physical, mental and emotional condition to participate in such activities. I waive right to any and all claims that I may have against the owner(s) of the rental space and The Curtain Playhouse and its faculty, staff or volunteers for any illness (including the risk of Covid 19), injuries or accidents my child may suffer as a result of their participation. I understand that in the event of an emergency when I cannot be reached, permission is hereby granted to The Curtain Playhouse to secure medical treatment for my child. I give permission for an emergency physician to treat the person named. I accept responsibility for all medical expenses incurred.

PAYMENT POLICY: If a payment or automated card transaction is declined/returned by your bank or credit card company for any reason, there is a fee of $25.   If there is a second incident of a decline/return, there is a fee of $35, and we will ask for your class payment in full.  If your card is declined for any payment, we will make effort to continue to attempt to collect the charges due.
